The delegation discussed bilateral relations and strengthening democratic institutions.
Quito, April 11, 2022. A delegation of U.S. Members of Congress from the House Democracy Partnership, led by Representatives Robin Kelly (D-IL), Ted Lieu (D-CA), and Terri Sewell (D-AL) visited Quito. The Members of Congress discussed bilateral relations and strengthening democratic institutions with President Guillermo Lasso and a number of Government of Ecuador Ministers. They also met with members of the National Assembly.
In addition to meetings with government officials, the Members of Congress also discussed with business leaders the economic ties between the United States and Ecuador, and conversed with civil society organizations about U.S. natural disaster assistance and support for Venezuelan and Colombian migrants and the Ecuadorian communities that support them.
