Emergency Message for U.S. Citizens: Potential demonstrations at Alianza PAIS (AP) headquarters on Shyris Avenue
November 28, 2017

Police have closed Shyris Avenue between Portugal Street and Holanda Street because of potential demonstrations at Alianza PAIS (AP) headquarters and these street closings may be extended if circumstances warrant. The atmosphere is politically charged and there is a possibility of violence between opposing political groups on the streets in this area. The U.S. Embassy in Quito recommends avoiding this area until tomorrow, November 29.
