Joint Statement from the U.S. Mission in Ecuador and the Government of Ecuador

The Government United States will donate 2 million doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine to Ecuador. The first delivery will arrive this week. This direct donation is a testament to the strong relations between the United States and Ecuador.

The donation is part of the Biden-Harris Administrations’ efforts to support international vaccination efforts to save lives and end the pandemic worldwide. As announced by President Biden on June 21, the United States plans to allocate approximately 14 million vaccine doses for Latin America and the Caribbean, which will include vaccines for the people of Ecuador.

The United States is proud to partner with the Government of Ecuador to defeat COVID-19. The U.S. vaccine donation will support President Lasso and the Government of Ecuador’s plan to vaccinate 9 million Ecuadorian citizens in 100 days. The United States has carried out a successful inoculation plan and Ecuador is replicating a similar process.

Together, the United States and Ecuador will continue to build a world that is safer and more secure against the threat of infectious disease.
