Security Alert for U.S. Citizens: Esmeraldas province

- City of San Lorenzo, Esmeraldas province, Ecuador
- City of Eloy Alfaro, Esmeraldas province, Ecuador
Event: A car bomb caused damage to a local police command center in the early hours of Saturday morning, January 27, 2018 in the city of San Lorenzo, Esmeraldas province. There were no fatalities, although several people were injured.
The President of Ecuador, Lenin Moreno, declared a limited State of Emergency in the cities of San Lorenzo and Eloy Alfaro, to “strengthen the security of the citizens and the border.”
