Location: Pichincha Volcano
Event: The Embassy has received reports of armed robberies taking place on Pichincha Volcano hiking trails. The most recent incident took place near the Bear Cave area trail leading to the Rucu Pichincha summit.
Please take the following actions:
- Maintain increased vigilance.
- Travel in pairs or groups.
- In the event of an armed robbery, do not resist.
- Notify the Ecuadorian National Police by calling 911 if an incident occurs.
